Cady did a thing (or two).

Whole Woman’s Health

My time at Whole Woman’s Health (WWH) came in the throes of Whole Woman’s Health v. Hellerstedt, which ignited my passion for reproductive justice and securing abortion access for all. I felt grateful to experience the process, firsthand, of a case that would define and set precedent for the landscape of a abortion access in the United States. Observing this advocacy in action, my determination was strengthened and my resolve steeled. I knew that reproductive justice and sexual health was where I wanted to be. In short, working for WWH was the spark that lit the fire and began my career in sexual health education.

BBYO

BBYO is a nonprofit youth engagement organization which serves over 80,000 teens across more than 50 countries and is the Jewish world’s largest youth movement. During my time with BBYO, I served as both the program director of BBYO's Evergreen Region (all of the Pacific Northwest and Alaska) and a Director of Community Engagement for the western United States. I strengthened and enhanced Evergreen Region by stewarding partnerships and developing meaningful relationships with - and between - over 500 teens, their parents, local community leaders, and volunteers. I utilized my versatility and ability to pivot, adjusting rapidly and consistently to new audiences, often guiding teens and parents alike through their full experience with the organization.

University of Minnesota

I have been delighted to return to my alma mater as a graduate student in maternal and child health. While working full time for BBYO, I completed my M.A. in Public Health in a little over three years. As a student in the Maternal and Child Health program, I did most of my research on sexuality education curriculum in the United States, the role of teen pregnancy on negative health outcomes, and instilling a sense of self-efficacy and self-esteem into young adults through sex positive messaging and programming. I completed my field experience over the summer of 2020 by working with AnteUp!, an Oakland-based nonprofit, to develop and evaluate online coursework through the lens of reproductive justice, disability justice, and intersectionality.

I spent my four undergraduate years working for the Office of Admissions, diving deep into policy and public affairs as the Co-Chair of the Human Rights Program’s Student Advisory Committee, and developing leadership skills through my involvement with Gamma Phi Beta sorority. I also worked as a research assistant for two local organizations, and the YMCA Kautz Family Archives, located on campus. I was involved in the Jewish community as a Bentson and Maimonides Scholar and a member of the Hebrew Honors Society. I graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2014.
